Children’s Museum Thinkery Del Valle Opens

Big news for Revelry families! Thinkery, Austin’s beloved children’s museum, has opened a brand new location right here in Del Valle, and it is officially one of the best reasons yet to call this corner of southeast Austin home. Thinkery – Del Valle is a first of its kind neighborhood children’s museum, built for hands-on, joyful learning that kids will actually beg to go back to.

About Thinkery – Del Valle

Thinkery – Del Valle grew out of a multi year partnership with Del Valle ISD, and it is more than just a museum. It also serves as a Thinkery STEAM Learning Institute site, where Thinkery’s STEAM Educators provide culturally responsive professional development for district educators. At its core, this space exists to bring joy to learning, helping kids build a lifelong love of discovery that carries them well beyond their years at the museum.

What to Expect Inside

Thinkery-Del Valle features play based, inquiry driven STEAM exhibits designed for curious minds of all ages. Expect interactive spaces built for hands-on exploration rather than look, don’t touch displays.

  • Outdoor, nature connected play spaces
  • Water based exhibits, including the Sustainable Springs feature
  • Hands on STEAM stations built for open ended exploration
  • A layout designed for kids to lead the way and adults to jump right in with them

A Great Fit for Homeschool Families

If you are homeschooling, Thinkery – Del Valle deserves a spot in your regular rotation. The exhibits are built around inquiry driven, play based STEAM learning, which makes it easy to turn a museum visit into a hands on lesson without extra planning. Whether you are covering science concepts, working on fine motor skills with younger learners, or just looking for a change of scenery that still counts as learning, this museum fits naturally into a homeschool week. It is also a great way for homeschool families to connect with other local families doing the same thing.
